Goodbye 2015, Hello 2016!

Hey gang!

I don’t know about you, but 2015 was a year of many changes, opportunities and surprises – a few ups and downs, if you will.

There was some hustling! For money, work and worth – as we all do.

I was also hustled… into some enjoyable work and out of some well-earned money. Hmm..

True to the law of unity of opposites, 2015 has also meant greatness and serendipity!

The most exciting thing being: the next album is almost done! So close! Literally, one or two days more in the studio more and we’ll be into post-production!

Here’s one of the pre-mixed tracks as a preview – Tell You Why

Tell You Why was partly inspired by an article I read (in Exclaim?) about a jazz musician who long battled drugs and booze – the artist plight 😉 and after straightening and sorting out, had passed away. Somewhere in the article I read the expression guide su pasaje or “watch your step” in Spanish. Somewhere in the article I read the expression cuide su pasaje or “watch your step” in Spanish.

Now anyone who knows me knows I love both jazz and español, but this specific caveat instantly struck a powerful chord with me – it resonated and stuck with me. I thought about the songs on this album, the lyrics. Tell You Why‘s a psychological stalker song, a pretty cheating song, a sweet, I’m-so-in-love-with-you song about no one in mind. I’ve realized that life’s just one big hustle – good and bad, exhilarating and exhausting, fun and unkind – and the fates have gone soo easy on me. I have so many wonderful people in my life!

So, maybe it’s time I learn the game better. at least, always some big Qs this time of year, right?! (thanks for indulging me)

Dear fates, I will try harder smarter :-)

A lot of thought goes in naming an album, as you can imagine. In the end, well, I’m sure you’ve guessed it!
